What is common law? Law that is based on precedents(or previous decisions) What was the first written law? The code of Hammurabi. What is the hebrew moral code? The ten commandments. What is stautory law? A law enacted by legislature. Amendments 4,5,6,8,14 have to do with what? Rights of the accused. What type of law enforcement has demain over you inside of the city limits? The police. What type of law enforcement has demain over you outside of the city limits? A sheriff. What document stated that even the king was under the law? Magna carta. Who has the power to hear concurrent cases? Both the state and federal courts. What does the grand jury do? Decide if there is enough infomation to convict a person. What is the capital offence? A crime punishable by the death penalty. Emperor Justinian the 1st wrote a set of laws called? The Justinian code. What is a moral code? What a reasonable person would do. What is the first known constituion (called the great binding law)? Irioquois Nation Constitution. What does the petit jury do? Decide on the verdict. What is a legal code?
