The organization of musical sound rhythm A steadily recurring pulse, like the ticking of a clock beat A note that is usually one beat in length. quarter note A note that is usually two beats in length. half note A note that is usually four beats in length. whole note The space between two barlines on a musical staff. measure A form of rhythmic organization made up of two parts: (1) the number of beats per measure and (2) the type of note that counts as one beat. meter A vertical line that equally divdes the music staff into smaller parts called measures. barline Unit 1 Music Terms
