What is a task force? an ad hoc group, brings people together face to face or online to work on a specific problem What is a governance groups and committees? The gears of democratic system that represents larger populations or organizations What do governance groups and committes do? They meet regularly to consider issues, gather information, make proposals, and report to larger groups. What do tasks forces do? Investigate an issue, gather information and make proposals that other groups may or may not implement What is groupware? Information system designed to enable groups to work together electronically What is an synchronous meeting? Where members communicate at the same time either by face to face, computer, telephone or videoconferencing What is asynchronous meeting? Where members enter and review computer messages at different times What is a group?. Two or more persons who are interacting with one another in a manner that each person influences and is influenced by each other person. What is team? Two or more persons who develop special feelings among its members, creates critical work processes, and relflect leadership for its own development and performance. What is included in the transactional processes? Includes messages about indiviuals, messages about the team and messages about task processes. What is included in the task processes? Includes gathering and sharing information, analyzing problems, designing solutions, analyzing and testing evidence and reasoning, and making, implementing, and evaluating decisions. What is a charge? The purpose or objectives given to a group that provide the foundation for setting that group's goals. What is a Creative team? People who bring specific talents together to conduct reasearch, formulate ides, and carry through an entire original project Cybernetic processes Methods of feedback and assesment that help open systems with own development and improvement Electronic meeting room (EMR) A room set up for conferencing through computer, video, and/or telephone connections and/or for face-to-face group-ware meetings. Focus group A group of representatives from a specific population who, with the help of a professional facilitator, discuss questions relating to anything from marketing a new product to evaluating a general education curriculum.
