An exact location that does not vary by the viewpoint of the person observing it Absolute Location A type of outline map which exhibits something in its geographical aspects Chart The imaginary line around the center of the Earth; the starting poinr for lines of latitude Equator The description, distribution, and interaction of the diverse physical, biological, and cultural features of Earth's surface Geography A special kind of map of the world that is mounted on a sphere, creating an accurate small-scale model of Earth. Globe An imaginary line running over Earth in an east-west direction, used together with lines of longitude for determining location. Latitude An imaginary line running over Earth in a north-south direction, used together with lines of latitude for determining location. Longitude A representation, on paper, of some physical location, usually a city, state, or country. Map 1/60th of the space between two lines of latitude or longitude Minute The "starting point" for lines of longitude Prime Meridian An area that has one or more physical or human characteristics in common. Region A location in comparison to something else. Relative Location Designed to proportion. Scale A manner of accomplishing a task through the application of knowledge. Technology These are key vocabulary words which you will need to know. They will be studied and introduced throughout the year.
